Catholic Education Week

27.05.18

On Friday 25th May the SRC (Student Representative Council) attended Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Church, Henley Beach Parish to celebrate the beginning of Catholic Education Week with various schools from the Western Region.
We were warmly welcomed by the Star of the Sea Catholic School community and shared in a beautiful Mass with other local schools including St. John Bosco, Nazareth Catholic College, St. Michaels College and St. Joseph’s Hindmarsh. The theme of the Mass was the same as the theme for the Year of Youth, 'Open New Horizons for Spreading Joy'. Our students played an integral part in the very joyful celebration, processing in both the opening and offertory procession as well as one brave volunteer reading a universal prayer.
We then headed over to Star of the Sea school where they very generously put on a sausage sizzle. After a lovely lunch and play we then headed over to the beach for some interschool fun and games. It was wonderful to see the various colours of the western regions’ school uniforms intermingling and working together.
A very joy filled occasion to mark what will be a week celebrating Catholic Education where we truly believe ‘Every Child Matters’.
We wish to thank all the organisers of this event including our own Acting APRIM Matt Harrison for a very successful day.
