Newsletter Term 1 Week 2 2020

Dear TWCS Families,

Welcome to the 2020 school year and what an exciting year it is for our community! It was wonderful to see lots of smiling faces return to school last Tuesday. The children have very quickly settled back to the routine of school and the new (temporary) positions of our classes are working well which is fantastic.

My name is Rita Campbell and I am the new APRIM at Tenison Woods Catholic School.

Visible Wellbeing and Positive Education

I would like to welcome the new families to the Tenison Woods Catholic School community and a welcome back to all of our existing families. At Tenison Woods we have a strong focus and emphasis on ensuring all students have high levels of personal wellbeing and feel valued and connected within the school. As a school we use the principles of Visible Wellbeing and Positive Education to enhance the wellbeing of the students, staff and wider community.

During the first year of our Visible Learning journey we focused on what our students were learning and why.  Students in all classes R-6 were, and continue to be, presented with Learning Intentions and Success Criteria for each Literacy and Numeracy activity.

Welcome to 2020! I would like to welcome all new and returning families to Tenison Woods Catholic School. My role as Sports Coordinator involves organising after school sport and sporting carnivals throughout the year and I look forward to another fantastic year of sport at TWCS and building on the great year we had in 2019.

Settling in

The students in 5/6 White arrived vibrant and ready to learn on Tuesday in Week 1. All the students have made their new educator, Heather feel very welcome and excited for the year ahead. The students have spent time reconnecting with one another through teamwork, questioning, fitness and comparison activities.

Welcome back to another school year. We hope that your children have settled in nicely and are eager to start learning!!

We wish to remind all families that TWCS is a Nut Free school. There are a number of children who are highly allergic to nuts, so to ensure their safety and wellbeing please do not send any nut products in lunch boxes. This includes spreads such as Nutella and Peanut Butter. We thank you for your support.
