Newsletter Term 2 Week 4 2020

Dear Parents and Caregivers,

Schools are busy places and Tenison Woods is no exception. This is probably the reason that my first four weeks seem to have flown by. It has been great getting to know the children and I am now starting to recognise more and more parents. I wish to iterate what I said in the last newsletter. I continue to see what a beautiful community we have in this school. Your children have been wonderful to greet and farewell each day and that has been the best part of my day.

The Adelaide Day Centre for Homeless Persons

Many services have been restricted and the new COVID -19 guidelines have meant that members of our community who are most vulnerable have been left without support.

With classes at Tenison Woods using brain breaks each day to support the wellbeing of students I wanted to take this opportunity to share this excellent article from the Head of Positive Education Institute at Geelong Grammar.

During the Covid-19 Pandemic Visible Learning was placed on hold as the staff worked hard to change to a flexible learning model in readiness for home learning.

School Sport Update

As restrictions begin to ease across South Australia and many community sports have begun training again many students and families have begun asking about the return of school sport. In Term 2 and 3 Tenison Woods offers students the opportunities to play Soccer and Netball and were due to begin at the start of this term.

In MATHS, we have been having fun learning about Fractions. We have explored the definition of the word fraction and found that it has its roots in the Latin word fractio which means to break. We then completed activities which focused on 1/2, 1/3, 1/4, 1/5, 1/6 and 1/8. We then continued to explore what we understood by equivalent fractions and we had fun with our explorations!!!

Congratulations to all the recepients of a Principal Award presented at this morning's assembly.
