Newsletter Term 4 Week 2 2020

Dear Parents and Caregivers,

I hope your children have settled quickly in to Term 4. It promises to be another fast paced term with plenty of exciting activities planned.

The first of these has been our Caritas Carnival last Friday and Book Week, including the assembly and parade that we celebrated on Wednesday. Thank you to those parents who were able to join us for the celebration or were able to help their children dress to the theme of 'Curious Creatures, Wild Minds'. The children looked amazing. Thank you to Mrs French and all of our teachers for making it a memorable week. The Book Fair has been a great opportunity for our children to explore and purchase a range of great books and other items, while raising some money for new books in the library.

Stewardship Reflection

“My God will supply whatever you need…” - PHILIPPIANS 4:19

God really does provide for those who are grateful and generous. This is very difficult for people that don’t live a stewardship lifestyle to believe. People are sceptical and say it’s just coincidence. If you are sceptical, try living a stewardship lifestyle for just one month – be generous with your gifts of time in prayer, talent in charitable works and treasure and see how God provides for your needs. We pray that we learn to depend on God to supply for our all needs.

Bucket Filling and Bucket Dipping

Bucket Filling and Bucket Dipping is a theory that enables students to have the language and a visual representation to help them manage their mental and emotional self and their relationships with others. The students will be introduced to the Bucket Filling and Bucket Dipping and explore the concept through the use of literature and various other prompts. As the students become familiar with the concept it will enable them to have a language to name their emotions and interact with others.

On Tuesday and Wednesday this week, our Leadership team met with the team from St Joseph's Kingswood and our Corwin Educator Lyn Coote. 
Tuesday was out third 'Evidence in to Action' session.

Master Blaster Cricket

Master Blaster cricket has begun each Saturday morning at Woodville South Oval. This term Tenison Woods has one team in the competition played their first game last Saturday. It is fantastic to see how many students have chosen to play cricket this term and they are showing such energy and enthusiasm towards their cricket. Thank you to Yashmeet Sandhu for coaching the two teams this term.

This week we have celebrated The Children’s Book Council of Australia Book Week. 

Each year since 1945 the CBCA has brought children and books together across Australia through CBCA Book Week. During this time schools and public libraries spend one glorious week celebrating books and Australian children's authors and illustrators. Classroom teachers, teacher librarians and public librarians create colourful displays, develop activities, run competitions and tell stories relating to a theme to highlight the importance of reading. 

The theme for this year's Book Week was 'Curious Creatures, Wild Minds' and it was wonderful to see our students and staff dress up for our parade.
