Newsletter Term 4 Week 4 2020

Dear Parents and Caregivers,

As I write this newsletter I am away on the Year 6 Camp at The Bend. The children arrived after our first hot day of summer, enjoying our Life Be In It day and Tri Skills. The children were excited to have brand new dorms and lots of green space for play. On Wednesday they participated in a variety of aquatics activities at the Murraylands Aquatic Centre at Murray Bridge. These included knee boarding, canoeing, small boat driving and sailing catamarans. We are all certainly having a great time indeed. I am sure they will all sleep well on Friday night when they return home. Thank you to Heather Docherty and Paula Freer for organising such a great experience for our senior students

Stewardship Reflection

Do you put other “gods” before God? Is your love of money, power, status, comfort or some personal possession greater than your love for God? Do you really recognise that everything you have and that everything you are is a gift from God? The good news – it’s not too late to put God first in all things in your life. We pray that we recognize everything we have and everything we are is a gift from God.

This article was published by the Institute of Positive Education and is very relevant as we begin to move out of COVID restrictions and start to rebuild connections with those around us.

SACPSSA Athletics Carnival

On Wednesday 4th of November, 25 students from Year 3-5 competed in the SACPSSA Athletics Carnival at SA Athletics Stadium. Each of the students competed in a variety of different events against 8 other Catholic Schools around the state. It was fantastic to see each of the athletes trying their very best in each of their specific events. The school spirit was clear to see as the students cheered on each of our competitors in their events. I would like to thank two of our pre-service teachers Giselle and Jack for attending and helping with the supervision of the students.

Music Learning 

In R/1 Music we’ve been extending our use of beat and voices to perform speech rhyme rhythms for ‘5 Little Bells’ to warm up our music making skills for Christmas time. We keep the beat with our bodies when singing to make sure everyone stays in time and can work together. This helps use build our social capacity to relate to others in different ways.

Congratulations to all the recipients of a Principal Award presented at this week's assembly.

Published Apple Book - The Giant Panda

Well done to Grayson R from 3/4 Purple whose book has been published on Apple Books which finished off a great week of Book Week celebrations. Grayson is our 3rd published author at Tenison Woods and our first for 2020.
