Message from the Principal |
Last week we celebrated 200 Years of Catholic Education in Australia and this week we celebrate National Reconciliation Week. Hopefully your children would have spoken to you about both of these significant events. "Reconciliation must live in the hearts, minds and actions of all Australians as we move forward, creating a nation strengthened by respectful relationships between the wider Australian community and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples". I invite each one of us to do our part in achieving reconciliation in Australia.

I wonder…who is Joseph for you?
Year of Joseph Dec 8th 2020 - Dec 8th 2021
In his letter, Pope Francis describes Joseph as: A father who is tender and loving, obedient, accepting and creatively courageous. He also describes him as a worker and as a person in the shadows. Pope Francis tells us that ‘Joseph found happiness not in mere self-sacrifice but in self-gift’. I wonder who Joseph is for each of us? I wonder how we can live these qualities as parents

Physical Education |
For the past term and a half students have been busy learning new skills during the PE lessons. Each class has two lessons a week every Thursday and Friday. These lessons so far have been packed full of games, challenges, skill development and fun.

Visible Learning |
This is the third year that Tenison Woods Catholic School has been involved in Visible Learning with Corwin and staff have become more confident using learning intentions, success criteria, timely and effective feedback and solo taxonomy in their classrooms.

Sports News |
Soccer and Netball
We are now heading into the 5th round of school soccer and from all reports the soccer players and their families are thoroughly enjoying the opportunity to play school soccer again. This year we have four soccer teams including an U/6, an U/7, an U/8 and U/10 team competing in the North West Junior Soccer Association competition. We have a total of 40 players playing across these four teams. I would like to thank the following coaches/managers Kirsty Miller, Brad de Vries, Alison Pirone, Kath D'Aloia and Justin Storr for volunteering their time for the teams. I would also like to thank the following people Anthony Morgan, Catherine Rowe, David Jucha, Erin Sneath, Genevieve Pelekani, James Wells, Jane O'Donoghue, Katie Collis, Kirsty Miller and Micki Wells for registering and volunteering to be Covid Marshals at the school soccer games.

Visible Wellbeing at TWCS |
At the core of everything we do is our children’s Well-Being. Feedback we are receiving from you, our parents is asking for support in understanding your children and what is driving their behaviour. Throughout the year we will be presenting a ‘Tenison Parent Information Series’. This series will bring in different guest speakers on specific topics to Tension Woods Catholic School with a number of sessions made available for you to attend.

National Reconciliation Week 2021 |
From Thursday 27th May - 3rd June, 2021 Australia is acknowledging National Reconciliation Week. National Reconciliation Week started in 1993 as a week of prayer for Reconciliation. Religious communities worked together to pray for reconciliation between Indigenous and Non-Indigenous people. Today, we’d like to continue this tradition and continue to pray for reconciliation.

Hello TWCS Families,
On Wednesday,16 June we will be organising a Pasta Lunch for the community. This will include a serving of homemade pasta made by the Maresca family and a fruit box all for $5. Please place your order through QKR! Orders will close on Monday,14th June at 9am. If you are available to volunteer on the day (lunchtime) please let me know.
We will also be holding a Parents Night Out dinner on Saturday, 31st July so please save the date. Venue details and cost to follow soon!
If you have any time to help at our upcoming events, or have any suggestions/feedback, please contact us via email or attend our next meeting. We would love to see some new faces.
