Message from the Principal

Dear Families,

We are certainly in an interesting world at the moment where we need to be always be on guard and ready to act quickly due to the global pandemic. As we have seen around the country, a 'lockdown' might only be hours away at any particular time. While we have been rather fortunate in South Australia we must continue to follow the guidelines and recommendations of our Senior Medical Officer, Professor Nicola Spurrier. This means ensuring that we follow good hygiene practices, we scan the Covid QR each time we enter a particular location and we take the opportunity to be vaccinated at the earliest opportunity. I encourage you to remain vigilant in reminding and helping your children to stay safe.

Religious Identity and Mission

Dear Families,

Thank you for your commitment to our school and ongoing collaboration with staff this term.

As we work together acknowledging our children's strengths and challenges, we also acknowledge our own skills and passions that we bring to the community.  Each diverse, yet needed, each shared uniquely and ready to use to enhance the learning of our children.

Well-Being and Flourishing

“My legacy to the world is my children”.

What powerful words our first guest speaker from the Tenison Parenting Series, Sylvia Habel left us with, after her workshop “The Parenting Effect”. Two sessions of this course were run throughout week 7 and I am pleased to say it was a great success!

SACPSSA Netball Carnival

On Tuesday 29th June all the students from Year 3 to 6 attended the SACPSSA Netball Carnival as the culmination of their learning in PE over last term. The students demonstrated outstanding sportsmanship and determination in all of the games they played. It was great to see the students apply the learning from PE into game situations throughout the carnival. The students displayed the Character Strengths of Teamwork, Zest, Fairness, Leadership, Bravery and Perseverance. For many students attending the carnival and playing games of netball put them out of their comfort zone, so many students consistently displayed a Growth Mindset.

Dear Parishioners,

We've been on the Covid roller-coaster again, but it seems at this stage that we've avoided a lockdown for now. What does it mean for Masses this weekend?

All Masses are celebrated as normal this Sunday. No masks are required. No online booking required.

Changes to Restrictions:

The density requirement of the churches has returned to 1 person per 2sqm. This means that the limit for each church is:

146 for St Aloysius.

114 for St John Bosco.

Please give some consideration to which Mass you attend this weekend in order to avoid hitting the cap.

9am St John Bosco and 11am St Aloysius are regularly close to that restriction limit.

If you are free to attend either 6pm Saturday night at Richmond or 4:30pm on Sunday at Brooklyn Park, then our numbers will be more evenly spread and we should have space enough for everyone.

Of course, the best way of making sure you have a space for Mass is to come early (and have some time for prayer and personal preparation).

Let's keep up the prayers that we come through this bumpy period and let's also keep an eye out for friends, neighbours and fellow parishioners.

Many blessings!

Fr Peter Zwaans

Parish Priest
