Message from the Principal

Dear Families,

The situation in Afghanistan is simply tragic and it is certainly difficult for us to fully comprehend the despair and challenges the people face on a daily, if not hourly basis. As a staff we had gathered on Wednesday morning with one of our teachers, Sarah Byrne, leading us with a reflection about those Afghani people arriving in Adelaide at the moment. When she returned to class, Amelie aged 7, said that we should make 'welcome cards' for all those people arriving. So the children spent the morning doing some very different and very real life learning. Sarah contacted Ali Clarke on ABC radio and then, on Thursday morning of this week, she was interviewed live on radio. I am sure many of you heard it. If not you can access the audio recording here.

Our new Reception students had their 1^st day at school and then lockdown hit us...what a start to their school life!

Since lockdown, the children have employed bravery, entering into school each day without their loved ones, and independently organising themselves for the day’s learning ahead. We have been learning about each other and connecting during our daily play-based activities.

Each student prepared and presented to the class a bag titled, ‘Marvelous Me’, sharing 4 items describing who they are. This coincided with a ‘name’ inquiry, investigating our names and those of others.

Sports News

SACPSSA Cross Country Carnival

On Wednesday August 18th was the annual SACPSSA Cross Country event at Park 15 Oval and the surrounding parklands. With students competing from over 30 schools in the 2km event the atmosphere of anticipation and excitement was evident as soon as the TWCS students arrived. This year the team consisted of 20 students from Year 3-6 and we had runners in most races throughout the day.

Hi TWCS Families,

What a busy and very successful week we have had!

We had an outstanding response to this term's wine fundraiser with just over $3,000 raised! Thank you for your orders and passing it on to friends and colleagues. Thank you to Kirsty Miller for again organising, collating, sorting and distributing. We look forward to holding another in Term 4 in preparation for the warm weather and Christmas celebrations.

Last Sunday we had our Bunnings BBQ and we were blessed with the most glorious weather. The day was a success with $1,430.00 raised. A huge thank you to the volunteers who helped prepare, serve and cook on the day. Thank you to Kirsty & Dan Miller, Stu Rainsford,Tenille White, Rebecca Hein, Mel Bond, Michelle Mellar, Ryan McBride, Fiona Cossey, Delmy Ramirez, Stella Charalambous, Jane O'Donohugh, Chris & Stella Chubb, Vinny Maresca, Gen Scatena, Nicola Manos and the wonderful Kim Murphy.

On Wednesday we held a Pizza Day in partnership with Baker's Delight Kurralta Park. Thank you to Paula Freer for organising the event with Baker's Delight and to Kirsty Miller for helping prepare for the day. The kids absolutely loved their pizza, fun bun and fruit box!
