Message from the Principal

Dear Families,

You would have received the Community Letter last Friday announcing the appointment of Mr Ben Catalano as Principal of Tenison Woods Catholic Primary School, commencing Term 4. While this is a term earlier than we had expected, it provides Ben an opportunity to settle in and engage with the community before the new year. I was pleased that Ben was able to come for a visit on Thursday of this week and met staff, students and a number of parents. I would like to offer my congratulations to Ben and wish him the very best as he begins his journey in this fabulous community. I am sure that you will make him feel most welcome when he arrives officially and no doubt he will feel right at home in no time at all. Welcome Ben!

3/4 Brown Class News

The highlight for this Term has been watching the students flourish in their learning and how they are competently understanding how feedback, Success Criteria and Bump it Up walls support them in being successful learners.  Our students use this feedback to guide and drive their accomplishment. When you enter our classroom the conversations you will hear amongst the children and the teachers are about how to “bump up” work to the next level.

Well being at TWCS

On Thursday 9th September it was R U OK? Day. This year it is being referred to as 'R U Really Ok?' Given the situation across the world and in Australia now, it is an important question to be asking ourselves, children, family, friends and community.

In recognition of R U OK? Day students participated in a school liturgy with a focus on Gratitude. In the Gospel reading Luke 10. 33-34But a Samaritan, while travelling, came near him … brought him to an inn and took care of him.” As a school community we are here to support and take care of each other, throughout all aspect of our life and ask each other the question “R U OK’?

SACPSSA Touch Football Carnival

Throughout Term 3, the students in Years 3 to 6 have been familiarising themselves with the rules, skills, movements and strategies associated with modified touch football, in preparation for a Physical Education excursion to a SACPSSA Touch Football Carnival. On Friday 3rd of September, 71 students from Years 3 - 6 divided into 8 teams and with the help of an adult supervisor, each team threw themselves into the learning pit calling on the character strengths of courage and teamwork.  We are very proud of all our students for the way they supported each other on the field and also the way in which they represented our Tenison Woods Catholic School community as a whole.

Parents and Friends News

Hi TWCS Families,

On Wednesday 1st and Friday 3rd we held the annual Father’s Day Stall. There were a great selection of gift for the kids to choose from. The kids put a lot of thought into making their selections. Thank you to Kirsty Miller, Stella Reid and Padmalatha Sangubhotia for assisting with the preparation and the stall. We hope all the Dad’s had a fantastic Father’s Day!

Next term we are hoping to offer ice blocks Monday-Friday during lunchtime, but require volunteers to make it happen. Please contact us via email or Kim at the front office, if you are able to nominate a day to help.

If you have any time to help at upcoming events, or have any suggestions / feedback, please contact us via email or attend our next meeting (below). We would love to see some new faces.
