Shrove Tuesday Bushfire Appeal 2020

25.02.20

At TWCS we reflected on our school theme 'We show love in all things as we live, learn and lead' and today all students showed love by kindly donating a gold coin to our Shrove Tuesday Bushfire Appeal.

Ian Gardiner a parishioner from Brooklyn Park/Richmond Parish, together with Aaron and Simone who are all members of the CFS, spent some time with our students speaking about the vehicles which are used during a bushfire emergency.

The vehicle with the large dish on top is used to connect to a satellite when there are no mobile phone towers/internet connections available. This enables the emergency services to link up via WiFi and use their computers and mobile phones. The other vehicle is a rapid deployment trailer which has various radio station bands e.g. UHF that the emergency services can use to communicate with each other on the ground.

Thank you to Ian, Aaron and Simone who volunteered their time today to come along and speak to our students.

We raised approximately $250.00 which will go towards St Vincent de Paul Society based in the Cudlee Creek/Lobethal and Kangaroo Island relief centres. Thank you to all families who helped with our appeal.
