In MATHS, we have been having fun learning about Fractions. We have explored the definition of the word fraction and found that it has its roots in the Latin word fractio which means to break. We then completed activities which focused on 1/2, 1/3, 1/4, 1/5, 1/6 and 1/8. We then continued to explore what we understood by equivalent fractions and we had fun with our explorations!!!
Our focus this month in WELLBEING is the Character Strength of LOVE. We are exploring the many facets of this word – it is such an important word, yet it is so often misunderstood. Jesus truly showed us what it means to love, and we have been reflecting on this aspect of love during our Prayer Times. During our Wellbeing Lessons we have been reflecting on our lives and, in particular, on the many ways we show love to those around us throughout the day.
What is this? Has Hogwarts transferred to TWCS? As we are aware, Reading is such an important aspect of our lives. A good author takes us to wonderful places and ignites our passion and imagination. We are taken to a world we explore new vocabulary which we can then reproduce in our own writing! We identify with characters who then enable us to reflect on our own attitudes and feelings and, perhaps, even our fears! Our Hogwarts theme grew out of the students’ passion and their initiative has seen the project grow and grow! The Sorting Hat even had a say as to which House we belonged!!!
