SACPSSA Netball Carnival

Yesterday all the students from Year 3 to 6 attended the SACPSSA Netball Carnival as the culmination of their learning in PE over last term. The students demonstrated outstanding sportsmanship and determination in all of the games they played. It was great to see the students apply the learning from PE into game situations throughout the carnival. The students displayed the Character Strengths of Teamwork, Zest, Fairness, Leadership, Bravery and Perseverance. For many students attending the carnival and playing games of netball put them out of their comfort zone so many students consistently displayed a Growth Mindset.

Below are some reflections from some students about the Netball Carnival;
'I liked that I was able to play in all of the different positions.' Evelyn
'I liked shooting goals when I was playing goal attack.' Nathan
'I liked playing goal attack because I was allowed to shoot.' Mariam
'I liked trying to shoot goals and I got 2 goals in one game.' William
'I liked working and playing with my friends.' Ayesha
'I liked the opportunity to score 3 goals.' Luka
'I liked working and being with my friends.' Natasha
'I liked making new friends with children from other schools.' Christos
'I liked playing the games and meeting new people.' Amiel
'I liked playing the games and having fun with my friends.' Thomas
'I liked playing against other schools and making new friends.' Abigail

SACPSSA Cross Country Carnival

On Thursday 6 of August we will be sending approximately 20 students to the SACPSSA Cross Country Carnival that is taking place in the east parklands in the city. The students will complete a 2km race across a variety of terrain including a creek crossing. I wish the students the very best and I look forward to sharing the results from this carnival in our next newsletter. Unfortunately due to Covid-19 restrictions parent spectators will not be allowed to attend the carnival this year.

School Netball

We are now into Week 2 of the term and school netball is back up and running. This term we have Year 2, Year 3/4 and Year 5/6 netball teams.  Just a few reminders in relation to after school sport:

  • Please ensure that if your child is unavailable to play that you notify the team coach with as much notice as possible.
  • Please ensure you arrive at the game with ample time for your child to warm up and for the coach to organise the players.
  • If your child is unwell please ensure to comply with the Covid-19 guidelines and keep your child home and notify your child's coach.
  • Also please ensure that there is no sharing of drink bottles or half time snacks and treats.
  • Also parents please comply with the various schools guidelines of social distancing when viewing your child playing.

I thank you for your support in these requests as it will allow us to continue to provide school sport for the children in a safe manner.
