The Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary

The Assumption (August 15) refers to the Blessed Virgin Mary being assumed — body and soul — into heaven at the end of her earthly life. It is by the power of God Mary was assumed into heaven.  Like all beliefs about Mary, they illuminate our most treasured beliefs about her Son. The Assumption illustrates to us the truth about Christ’s promise of eternal life and the resurrection of the faithful.  We gather to show our love and affection for Our Blessed Mother and by doing so we bring glory to her Son.
On Friday 14th August we will celebrate this feast and honour Mary with a liturgy in the new building.  Join us at 9am by making a booking with this linkFind out more about Mary here

Stewardship Reflection

“Gracious God, trusting in your providence and presence, we bring our prayer for an end to this pandemic. We pray for your strengthening of all those committed to offering leadership during this crisis.
We pray for all who are ill.
We pray for those anxious about getting ill.
We pray for those full of grief.
We remember those who have died.
Aware of our fragility, we pray for your grace to sustain us as we do what we can to end this pandemic.  Your compassionate, peaceful and creative response to many crises is our model.  We offer our heartfelt prayer in your Holy Spirit through Jesus Christ our Lord. AMEN.”

Plastic Free August

Thank you for your support as you pack and prepare children's lunchboxes with NO PLASTIC!
The schoolyard is looking so much cleaner and the type of food coming to school looks yummy as well.
Have you been able to reduce plastic at home?  Think about the way you shop for fruit and vegetables? There are a number of reusable, eco-friendly bags that you can use just like your calico shopping bags.
As our beloved Archbishop Faulkner said in his Advent Pastoral Letter in 1989, "If we are a community for the world then the well-being of the earth is certainly our concern".

Here is a nude food recipe you can try:
Apricot Oat Bars
Ingredients
200g chopped dried apricots - 250ml apricot nectar or apple juice - 2 tablespoons butter -
2 cups rolled oats - ½ cup desiccated coconut - 1 cup plain flour - 1 egg lightly beaten - 1 cup milk

Directions

  1. Preheat oven to 180ºC. Prepare a brownie tin by greasing and lining with baking paper
  2. Place the dried apricots, juice and butter in microwave proof dish and microwave on high for 2 minutes, mix well
  3. Combine oats, coconut and flour in a medium sized mixing bowl and create a well in the centre
  4. Add in the egg and the milk and mix well
  5. Add in the warmed apricot and juice mixture and stir until well combined. Pour the batter and spread evenly into tin
  6. Bake for 30 minutes
  7. Allow to completely cool in the tin before moving to a wire rack or slicing

TIP: Bars can be frozen if needed and thaw well in the lunch box

Plenary Council 2020

The six themes that have been discerned as 17,000 peoples’ responses to the question ‘What is God asking of us in Australia at this time?’ are now published in six booklets offered for our reflection. Each week there will be a small quotation to encourage you to explore these booklets online
This week the quote comes from the theme: How is God calling us to be a Christ-centred Church in Australia that is OPEN TO CONVERSION, RENEWAL AND REFORM? Within the church in Australia, renewal demands a culture of change: From power to service, from dominion to communion, from a triumphalist Church to a “Church is poor and for the poor” Pope Francis.
