2GREEN Class News

27.08.20

Last week the students of Year 2 Green visited the SA Art Gallery Precinct as part of our Visual Art and History Units. Our Learning Intention was to understand that Art can evoke different feelings in different people.

The students explored the Gallery observing the Artworks and observing the feelings the Art evoked in them. It may have been a positive feeling, but it may also have been a different kind of feeling. The adults supporting the students photographed any Art that was requested.

When we had completed our tour of the Art Gallery, we walked along North Terrace looking at the Historical buildings such as The Museum and The Mitchell, Elder and Bonython buildings of The University of Adelaide.  These observations will provoke our History Enquiry question …’Are Historical sites important?’

Thank you to Roslyn, Brad, Marie, Lauren and Thuy for helping out on the day and being wonderful and willing photographers.

Below are some of the Artworks the children chose and their responses:

Mayra
This is an image of a SHELL AND IT MADE ME FEEL COOL BECAUSE I was amazed and I wanted to touch it so much.
This is an image of a tree that was upside down.  It looks so cool and it made me feel relaxed and calm.

Tejas
This is a shell.  It made me feel calm because of the tip.

Elizabeth
This is a flower garden.  It made me feel quiet and mindful because it is beautiful.

James
This samurai sword made me imagine about who was holding it.  A person in samurai armour.

Eve
This is a sculpture of a dead body.  It made me feel uncomfortable because the sack looked like it had a dead body inside.
This is a painting of Mt Lofty, SA.  It made me feel relaxed because the sunset was nice.
