Stewardship Reflection

“For if we live, we live for the Lord, and if we die, we die for the Lord; so then, whether we live or die, we are the Lord’s.” – ROMANS 14:8

This is the essence of stewardship – everything we have and everything we are is a gift from God.  We aren’t “owners” of anything, we are merely “stewards” of the gifts that God has given us, especially our very own lives.  Pray to God, daily, and ask how you are being called to live the life that God intended for you.

CARITAS Carnival

The CARITAS Carnival is one way our community supports fundraising initiatives for Project Compassion.  The carnival is usually held in Term 1 but was rescheduled for Term 4 this year due to the forecast of bad weather.

On Friday 16th October, children with their teachers will co-ordinate stalls to sell products and to play games connected to the Caritas stories. Unfortunately, no families will be able to participate and join us this year due to social distancing restrictions. A reminder to contribute the $7 fee via Qkr! for each child so they can purchase goods and participate in ALL the activities.  This will be marked off on their CARITAS Passport (no money is to exchange hands this year due to COVID-19).

The activities are:
  • Hopscotch
  • Dot Painting
  • Bracelet making
  • Bookmarks
  • Grass heads
  • Popcorn
  • Obstacle course
All money raised will be donated to Caritas Australia for their local and national fundraising programs.

Staff Reflection Day 2020 - Called to Serve

“the Son of Man came not to be served but to serve, and to give his life a ransom for many.” Mark 10:45
On Monday Oct 12th all staff will participate in a Staff Reflection Day.  This day will involve:

  • Mass with Fr Peter Zwaans
  • a presentation by the CEO of the St Vincent de Paul Society - Louise Miller-Frost and
  • a huge cook up by the staff to make meals for Fred's Van and our local conference.

We are also seeking donations of toiletry packs for women and men, pyjamas, shavers, toothpaste and toothbrushes for a toiletry bag project run by Aboriginal Catholic Ministry.  This is to support people who come from remote areas to go to hospital. All donations can be left at the front office this week and any time next term.

A new nature festival for South Australia

From our own back gardens to the majesty of the Flinders, nature is central to who we are as South Australians.  More than 90% of us get out into our parks and beaches each year, and the challenges of 2020 have only further highlighted how critical nature is for our health and wellbeing.  With more than 100 events for all ages, the Nature Festival is full of creative ways to connect with others and to set out on adventures near and far.  Check out this website for ideas during the school holidays!
