“Therefore, stay awake, for you know neither the day nor the hour.”
“Well done, my good and faithful servant. Since you have been faithful in small matters, I will give you great responsibilities.”- MATTHEW 25:13, 21
God calls us to nurture and develop the gifts He has given us and then generously return a portion with increase. He doesn’t want us to waste or hoard the gifts He has given us. He expects us to grow our gifts, use them wisely and be generous with them. Unfortunately, many of us are not generous in proportion to all that God has given us. We pray that we answer God’s call to nurture and develop our gifts and return them with increase.
Jesse wanted to find a way to help the children in our community as well to help those in developing countries! Hot chocolate was the answer.
First he asked his friends in his class to support him – 11 said YES!
Second he had to decide when and where he could supply the hot chocolate, so he consulted Mr Mercer, Heather and other teachers.
FEEL GOOD FRIDAY WAS BORN!
The team and staff donated the ingredients and together they realised that the hard work was worth it. Perseverance and Bravery were needed along with Teamwork to ensure this project was successful. Jesse predicted that $150 would be raised by selling hot chocolate every Friday morning before school. Children paid $1 and brought their own reusable cups. Over 4 Fridays a whopping $251 was collected.
Originally he wanted to donate to charities that were supplying clean water to their communities. After a visit from Jayne Shortt – the Vinnies Education Officer - he realised that this charity called Vinnies had been part of our community for so long and it would benefit more from this donation.
After reflecting he realised it was one of the best choices he had made in his life. He knew it was going to benefit a lot of people and he was so glad that his project supported those in poverty. Jesse is so grateful to all those that helped him. If he was to do this again he knows how to do it and that it would be the right decision.
The main message Jesse wanted to send out to all the children was - Just the smallest deed can do such great things! (Thankyou St Mary MacKillop)
Watch this space for the next fundraising idea!
Our generous community shows the hands of God at work AGAIN!
$150 was raised for Crazy Sock Day. This will be donated to Catholic Missions in support of their work assisting and equipping families of people with disability to look after their loved one and support their needs.
It is that time of year where we can work together to help all families celebrate a joy-filled and happy Christmas.
TWCS is organising a Vinnies FOOD AND TOY DRIVE FOR 2020. Tinned and packaged food plus toys for 5-13 year olds are in need to distribute to families in our conference.
Please deliver the food in sealed plastic bags to the front office or wrap the Christmas gift and include a label about the gift. These will be delivered to Vinnies by Mon Dec 7th.
Please refer to the Parish website for all updated information from Fr Peter Zwaans regarding Mass times and bookings.
