Visible Wellbeing at TWCS

04.06.21

At the core of everything we do is our children’s Well-Being. Feedback we are receiving from you, our parents is asking for support in understanding your children and what is driving their behaviour. Throughout the year we will be presenting a ‘Tenison Parent Information Series’. This series will bring in different guest speakers on specific topics to Tension Woods Catholic School with a number of sessions made available for you to attend.

Our first guest speaker will be Sylvia Habel from ‘Leading Potential’. Sylvia is well versed in mental health Well- Being and human behaviour issues. Sylvia’s professional study in a Masters of Educational Leadership and Instructor training with the William Glasser Institute allowed her to develop a deep understanding of the human psyche. With this knowledge she has the capacity to understand others’ and unlock their innate potential. Imparting this knowledge and understanding to leaders allows them to achieve their visions. Sylvia is widely known in the Catholic Education System and has worked at Tenison Woods Catholic School on numerous occasions supporting staff and students in understanding what is driving their behaviour.

Our first parent information series is as follows:

This term we have introduced the social programme What’s the Buzz?

What’s the Buzz? is a unique social and emotional skills programme that we will be using throughout our school. The programme is based on an extensive body of research believed to stimulate social thinking and accomplish powerful outcomes.  The social skills programme is designed to explicitly teach children how to think and relate to others in social situations, which of course, we are surrounded by.

Three of our ESO’s have been trained in this programme and have been preparing in the last week or so to begin working with small groups across the years R-6.

We look forward to watching this progrmamme unfold and the benefits it will bring to our children.

Finally this term we will be holding another Well-Being Day with the theme “Test your Limits” This day will take place, Week 9, Friday 25 June. Stay tuned for more information.
