Social Work Students

For the remainder of this year two Social Work students will be completing their final placement at TWCS.  These students are in their final year of a Masters Degree and will be supervised by myself and our qualified Social Worker - Gilda Campbell.  They have visited all the classrooms and introduced themselves to the children and are keen to work on projects and intervention programs.

My name is Sandeep Kaur Grewal; I am a social work student from Flinders University, SA. I have started my final placement at Tenison Woods Catholic School. I am so excited to be a part of this journey. I have a background in Animation and Multimedia, and I feel that the blend of my creative and social work skills will enable me to provide meaningful and useful interventions to children and young people. The school social work role is unique in that it focuses on the student in the school setting to support effective learning outcomes by relieving distress, removing obstacles or inequalities, and creating safe and inclusive schools and communities. As a social work student, I have organised various events in the past. So I am looking forward providing the safe place at the school.

My name is Yangyang Guo, and I am a social work student from Flinders University. I am very interested in children's education and development, so I am thrilled to observe and participate in students' classroom activities and outdoor activities in primary school. I also hope to establish a trusting and reliable relationship with students, to use social work theory and practices to deal with students' social and emotional problems so that they can better integrate into a friendly and safe school environment, establish friendships with classmates, and get along with their parents. I hope to support the children to become independent who use their character strengths, know how to manage themselves, and know how to get along with others.

NCCD data information for parents fact sheet

Every year, all schools in Australia participate in the Nationally Consistent Collection of Data on School Students with Disability (NCCD). The NCCD process requires schools to identify information already available in the school about supports provided to students with disability. These relate to legislative requirements under the Disability Discrimination Act 1992 and the Disability Standards for Education 2005, in line with the NCCD guidelines (2019).

This information assists schools to:

  • formally recognise the supports and adjustments provided to students with disability in schools
  • consider how they can strengthen the support of students with disability in schools
  • develop shared practices so that they can review their learning programs in order to improve educational outcomes for students with disability.

The NCCD provides state and federal governments with the information they need to plan more broadly for the support of students with disability.

The NCCD will have no direct impact on your child and your child will not be involved in any testing process. The school will provide data to the Australian Government in such a way that no individual student will be able to be identified – the privacy and confidentiality of all students is ensured. All information is protected by privacy laws that regulate the collection, storage and disclosure of personal information. To find out more about these matters, please refer to the Australian Government's Privacy Policy. Further information about the NCCD can be found on the NCCD Portal https://www.nccd.edu.au
