Visible Wellbeing at TWCS

‘I am enough’ – how often do we tell ourselves these words? How often do our children hear these words? In today’s ever changing world and the pressure increasing on children we need to advocate and teach our kids that “They are enough – just as they are!” This is something we will be working towards this term as a Well-Being focus.

As a staff we have been unpacking what Well-Being is for each and every one of us and how as a school we empower children to know – ‘They are enough – just as they are!’ As a staff we all agree, at the heart of everything we do at TWCS is our students and their Well-Being. We also know that in order for students to be successful they need to be in a positive mindset.

To empower our children to know they are enough, we are implementing a whole school program about Positive Growth Mindset and creating an “I am enough’ Well-Being toolkit. Each teacher will be exploring with cross age classes how we as individuals can practise Growth Mindset. At the end of this 4 week program your child will have their own ‘I am enough- Well-Being’ tool kit bag. In these bags will be a number of resources to use and share with you as a family. These resources will range from mindful meditation activities, positive affirmation kits, yoga skills and art games.

In Week 8 on Thursday 9th of September it is R U OK? Day. This is a day that recognises that as a society and individuals we need to connect in our relationships and continually ask if our friends, family and colleagues are okay. This year the theme is ‘Are you really okay?’ We will be acknowledging this day with a Liturgy and whole school affirmation activity to add to the students ‘I am enough- Well- Being’ toolkit.

Last term our Well-Being Day ‘Test Your Limits’ was postponed due to weather conditions. This day will be celebrated on the last day of term. Hopefully Covid restrictions will allow for parents to attend this day. Stay tuned to further information.

Stay safe and well.
