Guided by Faith

At Tenison Woods, faith is part of everyday life. Inspired by the Josephite tradition, we teach students to lead with kindness, think deeply, and contribute to a more just and caring world.

Our Vision & Values

At Tenison Woods, “Be Kind, Be Brave, Be You” isn’t just something we say — it’s something we live.

It shapes our policies, guides our learning frameworks, and inspires the spaces we're building for the future.

Every decision we make is grounded in care, community, and the belief that every child deserves to thrive.

Living Our Mission Every Day

At Tenison Woods Catholic School, we are inspired by the lives and mission of Fr Julian Tenison Woods and St Mary MacKillop. Together, they believed in the power of education to change lives — especially for those on the margins.

Their vision still guides us today. As a Josephite school, our identity is shaped by the charism: In Omnibus Caritas — In all things love.

You can see this in:

  • Our deep sense of inclusion and service
  • Our care for creation and commitment to ecological education
  • Our focus on social justice and outreach
  • Our encouragement of prayer, wonder and awe in everyday learning

We are a faith-filled community where students are invited to grow in relationship with God, with others, and with themselves — becoming compassionate, curious and courageous learners.

Living Learning Leading

Thriving people. Capable learners. Leaders for the world God desires.

Learning at Tenison Woods is about more than academics — it’s about growing the whole person.

We are guided by Catholic Education SA’s Living Learning Leading framework, which is deeply woven into everything we do.

Through strong faith foundations, evidence-based teaching and a focus on wellbeing, we help students become:

Building for the Future: Our Re-Development Project

With enrolments growing and student needs evolving, Tenison Woods Catholic School is investing boldly in the future.

Following the completion of our Master Plan in 2023, we are delivering a two-stage building project designed to create modern, welcoming spaces for learning, play and community.

  • Two Reception classrooms
  • Two Year 1 classrooms
  • Two small group learning rooms
  • A large breakout space for collaboration
  • Inclusive toilets designed for young children
  • New outdoor play spaces
  • Environmentally sustainable design

With construction already underway, here's what's coming soon:

  • New front office entrance with stronger street presence
  • A welcoming plaza connecting car park and school
  • Expanded administration and wellbeing spaces
  • Updated landscaping along Brooker Terrace
  • Refurbished areas for Performing Arts, OSHC and Mid-Year Reception

With construction already begun, we’re creating a future-focused environment — one that matches our commitment to excellence, inclusion and wellbeing.

We’re proud to be building more than classrooms — we’re building a place where every child can be kind, be brave, and be themselves.

Acknowledgement of Country

We acknowledge the Kaurna people as the Traditional Custodians of the land on which we learn and grow, and we pay our respects to Elders past, present and emerging.

Our Acknowledgement of Country, shaped alongside the Campbell family, honours deep connection to land, family, and community.

The boomerang in our school artwork symbolises:

  • Returning to truth, culture and belonging
  • Building strong relationships across all communities
  • Sharing the journey of healing and respect

Here, we walk together in the spirit of reconciliation — learning from the past and building a shared future.
