I would like to welcome the new families to the Tenison Woods Catholic School community and a welcome back to all of our existing families. At Tenison Woods we have a strong focus and emphasis on ensuring all students have high levels of personal wellbeing and feel valued and connected within the school. As a school we use the principles of Visible Wellbeing and Positive Education to enhance the wellbeing of the students, staff and wider community.
What is Positive Education?
Positive Education brings together the science of Positive Psychology with best practice teaching and learning to encourage and support individuals, schools and communities to flourish ‘feeling good and doing good’.
How does Positive Education effect personal wellbeing?
Positive education focuses on specific skills that assist students, staff and community members to strengthen their relationships, build positive emotions, enhance personal resilience, promote mindfulness and encourage a healthy lifestyle.

These concepts and skills will continue to be used as we move forward with Visible Wellbeing and Positive Education in 2019. As a school the Positive Education approach will address six domains that are essential to the promotion of flourishing. These domains are:
Parent Information Sessions
Positive Education is a whole school approach and involves students, staff and families. As a community we must learn it, live it, teach it and embed it. As part of the whole school approach the school will be running various parent information sessions on Positive Education throughout the year. This term we will begin with an introductory session on What is Visible Wellbeing and Positive Education? The session will be held on Tuesday 5 March beginning at 7.00pm in the Beehive.
