Year 2 and 3 Zoo Snooze

05.04.19

Over Monday – Tuesday this week the Year 2 and 3 students attended a one-night Zoo Snooze overnight experience. Both groups of children spent the day exploring the Zoo and playing on the amazing Nature Playground.  At 3:45 they enjoyed an afternoon tea and later met the Zoo educator Onno, who was the host for both groups over the two nights.

The students had an animal experience, exploring the animal artefacts in the Education Centre and had the opportunity to get up close and personal with a lizard.  After a barbecue dinner the students were taken on a night walk through the zoo.  They saw bats, lions, tree kangaroos and tigers in a different light.
The children slept overnight in the education centre in their sleeping bags on mattresses supplied by the zoo.
The next morning the students were able to walk around the zoo before it was open to the public. The year 3 students were lucky enough to see the lioness and lion up close as they were moved to different enclosures.
All the children were engaged throughout their 24-hour visit and their behaviour in and around the zoo were a tribute to their families.
