On Friday 15 November, we celebrated the end of Woods Week with Sports Day at the SA Athletics Stadium in Mile End.
In perfect weather conditions, our House Captains led the community through our opening ceremony of acknowledgement, prayer, anthem and chants, culminating in a Health Hustle. In the morning, year levels rotated through a variety of tabloid events designed to promote collaboration and encourage participation.
The middle section of the day, involved the challenge of the more physically and mentally enduring events of long distance and tug of war. It was great to see the level of encouragement and the spirit of our children shining through in each of our year levels. Fr Peter joined us for grace and we paused for a moment to be thankful for all that we have, before sharing a meal with family and friends.
The afternoon finished with House team relays and we gathered for final presentations. Congratulations to our Perpetual Shield winners Aloysius, the Red Team, captained by Isabella and Jonathan who were very appreciative of their peers in their acceptance. Well done also, to our Spirit Cup winners Penola, the Blue Team, captained by Gemma and Lily.
On behalf of the staff, we would like to acknowledge all the students for their efforts, especially the House Captains for their support and leadership leading up to and on Sports Day. Also we are once again grateful to Fr Peter for joining us, those who volunteered and our families and friends in attendance for making Sports Day such a wonderful event for our community.

Starting this Thursday the students will be involved in the Tri Skills Gymnastics program. This will be a 4 week program with a weekly incursion for all of the classes. This gymnastics program is an enjoyable carefully sequenced progression of lessons that develops each student's ability to enjoy and perform movement sequences combining effort, space, objects and people. The program is directly linked with the Australian HPE Curriculum and will be assessed by the classroom teachers towards the student’s semester 2 report. This program is fully funded through the Sport School Grant Funding.
