Religious Identity & Mission

06.02.20

Buongiorno and welcome to the new 2020 school year.

My name is Rita Campbell and I am the new APRIM at Tenison Woods Catholic School.
What does that mean?  Assistant Principal Religious Identity and Mission.

I have received such a warm welcome since my arrival this year and I thank all the children and families who have introduced themselves to me over the last 2 weeks.

I have worked in the position of APRIM at various schools including Nazareth Catholic College, St Thomas’ School, Goodwood and St Francis Xavier’s School, Wynn Vale. I have also taught Italian at St Joseph’s School, Hindmarsh and have worked as an R-7 teacher in various schools.

My world is filled with the hip-hop dancing of my 7 year old son, the singing of my 13 year old daughter, the visiting of my 22 year old step daughter and the motor racing flags of my husband.  Yes, a sleep in would be nice, but not for a few more years. I am a Red Devils Fan (English Premier League) and cannot wait for the next season of Brooklyn Nine Nine to be released on Netflix.

The children will refer to me as Signora Campbell as we practise the wonderful language of Italian as well.

My heart of course is in the area of education and enhancing the Catholic Identity of our school by building community in the way of connecting family, parish and school life.

To do this our school has committed to the theme of: We show love in all things as we Live, Learn and Lead. This motto incorporates our Josephite Tradition and the Catholic Education SA framework.  Children and staff will be involved in unpacking how we can show love at Tenison Woods Catholic School through our relationships, by co-creating our learning, by caring for the environment, by a variety of celebrations and through leadership opportunities.

To begin the year we will be celebrating our Beginning of School Mass on Friday 7th February at 9am.  There will also be a commissioning for staff and the Student Representative Council (SRC) at this Mass. Please join us again for our Ash Wednesday Mass on Wednesday 25th February at 9am as we begin the season of Lent.

All class Masses will be celebrated on Friday mornings at 9am in St Aloysius Church:
