Visible Learning

06.02.20

During the first year of our Visible Learning journey we focused on what our students were learning and why.  Students in all classes R-6 were, and continue to be, presented with Learning Intentions and Success Criteria for each Literacy and Numeracy activity. During the year we gathered data on whether the students could identify where the Learning Intentions and Success Criteria were located and if they understood what was required of them to be successful. As a staff we reflected on our feedback and adjusted our practices accordingly.

The following questions helped students answer two of the three feedback questions:
Whare am I going? (Learning Intention)
How am I doing? (Success Criteria)

The staff commenced the 2020 academic year participating in a Professional Development Day with our Corwin Visible Learning Leader.
This year we are focusing on giving feedback to and receiving feedback from our students.  We spent the day studying different ways of gaining feedback from our students and ways to offer students feedback to help them progress in their individual learning journeys.  Feedback allows students to answer the third feedback question:
Where to next? (Based on where the learner is right now in relation to the Success Criteria.)

We will continue to gather data on our work as teachers to ensure we are having the greatest, positive impact we can on student learning.
